In sorrow and in joy
This is the part of the Danbu that matters most at the worst moment. It sets out what BMA does when a member dies or is in trouble, what the church does, and who acts first — decided in advance, so that nobody has to work it out on the day.

When a BMA member dies, BMA aims to give up to ₹5,000 (five thousand rupees) towards the coffin. Where the death is somewhere BMA cannot reach to handle it, it is considered as the case requires.

Marriage: where a BMA member takes a husband or wife in church, a congratulatory gift of around ₹1,000 is given.

Who acts first
The Section acts first, and tells BMA's leaders straight away — and if BMA's leaders hear of it first, they tell the Section. The rule exists so no one waits for someone else to move.

It is to be known that misfortune is BMA's responsibility. But when such a thing happens, the Section it happens in makes the start and handles whatever needs handling, informing BMA's leaders and the other Sections' leaders at once, and acting together as the case requires. And if BMA's leaders hear of it first, they tell the Section straight away.

Agreed at a joint meeting with the churches in 2016, and written down so that at the moment it is needed, the division is already settled.

Making known to people that misfortune has happened, and how it is to be handled, is BMA's responsibility. This takes in announcements on the community side and on the church side alike.

When misfortune comes in Bangalore, matters of worship are the responsibility of the church's leaders, with the time arranged jointly with BMA's leaders (Zawlbuk 6.1.3). The following are the church's responsibility: the church makes the programme, and tells BMA to announce it to the community.
