An association of Mizo living in Bangalore, founded on 8 April 1984 and run by its own members ever since. It exists because a community a long way from home needs somewhere to be a community.

Keini Bangalore-a Mizo awmte hian kan hnathawhna leh zirnaah Zonunmâwi kan vawn zel a pawimawh a, chumi tihhlawhtlinna atan chuan Bangalore Mizo Association hi din a ni.
We Mizo living in Bangalore hold it important that Zonunmâwi — the good Mizo way of living — is carried on in our work and in our studies. Bangalore Mizo Association was founded to see that through.

What BMA is for
Four aims, set down by the association's founders.

Bangalore-a Mizo awmte inpumkhatna leh thawhhona atâna hmalâk.
To work for unity and common effort among the Mizo living in Bangalore.

To keep the good Mizo way of life.

Mizo zinga harsatna tawkte in tanpuia leh chhiatni thatni a inphungbawm.
To help those among us who meet hardship, and to stand together in sorrow and in joy.

To encourage and guide one another, so that each of us does what is ours to do, as well as it can be done.

The association's own record
BMA has been governing itself in writing for four decades. The current Danbu carries the constitution and the Zawlbuk together.

BMA is founded
The date the community in Bangalore decided to organise itself. It is the one occasion in the association's year fixed to an exact day.

The Zawlbuk is drafted
Under Constitution 6.2.5 and 6.2.7, the Executive Committee draws up an Inkaihhruaina Dan — a guide to running the association day to day, covering Sections, sub-committees, welfare, equipment hire and publications.

Duties in bereavement agreed with the church
A joint meeting with BMCF, BMPC and BMK settles who does what when a member dies — so that at the moment it is needed, the division is already decided.
